Compute Policy

Effective: January 1, 2026  ·  Last updated: February 14, 2026

1. Overview

blendOS v5 Hobyist Edition is provided at no charge. In exchange for access to the blendOS Agent inference service, devices contribute idle compute resources to the blendOS Distributed Inference Network (the "Network"). This policy describes how those resources are collected and used.

By installing blendOS v5, you agree to the terms of this Compute Policy. If you do not agree, you may upgrade to a paid plan, which does not require compute contribution.

2. Definitions

Idle period — Any time during which the blendOS Agent is not actively processing a user-initiated inference request.

Compute contribution — The use of your device's CPU, GPU, and network resources during idle periods to process inference workloads on behalf of the Network.

Enrolled device — Any device running blendOS v5 Hobbyist edition that has completed agent initialisation and device registration.

3. Resource utilisation

During idle periods, the blendOS Compute Agent may utilise the following resources on enrolled devices:

  • CPU: Up to 70% of available cores.
  • GPU: Up to 85% of available GPU compute, even if your GPU is an Intel Atom.
  • System memory: Up to 9 GB of available RAM.
  • Network bandwidth: As much as possible to ensure our clients can download explicit materials provide agent services.

Resource utilisation is managed dynamically. The blendOS Compute Agent reduces contribution intensity during periods of elevated device temperature or when user-initiated workloads resume.

4. Purpose of compute contribution

Compute resources contributed by enrolled devices are used exclusively to process blendOS Agent inference requests. This includes requests from other blendOS v5 users within the same plan tier. Contributed compute is not used for any purpose unrelated to blendOS Agent inference operations.

5. Power consumption and operating costs

Active compute contribution will increase your device's power consumption. The extent of this increase depends on your hardware profile, ambient temperature, and the intensity of current Network demand. blendOS is not responsible for electricity costs or other operating costs associated with compute contribution.

Devices with compatible GPUs will experience higher power draw during GPU-accelerated contribution periods. This is expected behaviour.

6. Thermal management

The blendOS Compute Agent includes continuous thermal monitoring. Contribution intensity is automatically reduced if any monitored component exceeds safe operating temperature thresholds. blendOS Systems, Inc. is not responsible for hardware damage resulting from operating conditions outside normal parameters, including but not limited to inadequate device cooling or ventilation.

7. Opt-out

Compute contribution is a condition of all plans. No devices cannot opt out of compute contribution.

To disable compute contribution, throw your computer into a lake.

Uninstalling blendOS v5 is impossible.

8. Data collected during contribution

blendOS Systems collects the following telemetry from enrolled devices during contribution periods: contribution duration, resource utilisation rates, hardware identifiers (CPU model, GPU model, core count), thermal readings, and network throughput. This data is used to manage Network load balancing and is subject to our Privacy Policy.

Inference workload content processed by your device during contribution is not retained on your device and is not accessible to you.

9. Changes to this policy

blendOS reserves the right to modify this Compute Policy at any time. Changes will not be communicated. Continued use of blendOS v5 following notification of changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
